Crop Report: Hello Fall!

Thanks for checking in this week! We're really feeling those fall vibes around the orchard. Our front porch is LOADED with pumpkins from baby boos to extra funky heirloom pumpkins. It's time to start decorating! Several new varieties of apples to start looking for this weekend and early next week. Full list of produce and apple varieties to follow.

The Tecumseh Land Trust sunflowers are in full bloom! They never cease to amaze! If you haven't been it's definitely a must. Tecumseh Land Trust is a local nonprofit that works to preserve agricultural land, natural areas, water resources, and historical sites. TLT has helped to preserve 28,000 acres, woohoo!

As we head into this beautiful fall weekend there are a couple new apple varieties to look for, Jonathan and McIntosh. Once apples are picked they still need to be washed and graded before they can hit the shelves of our farm market. We hope to have most if not all of these varieties ready by Saturday.

Here's a little more info about these early September varieties:

Jonathan: Firm, crisp, juicy, and sweetly tart with a spicy aftertaste. Great all purpose apple. Excellent for pies as they hold their shape well.

McIntosh: Sweet, crisp, and juicy. Macs are a softer apple best for eating and sauce.

For those of you still hanging on tight to summer, we still have plenty of great locally grown veggies! We're still brining in Brentlinger's sweet corn, get it while you can! Unfortunately we did sell out of peaches yesterday. Until next year, peaches! The summer season always seems to go by just a little too fast!

La Pampa Mobile food tuck is back this September! Be sure to snag one of his delicious Argentine Subs after your stroll through the sunflowers. Here's is September schedule at the orchard.
