Crop Report: Fall in the Orchard & Pumpkin Patch
Thanks for checking in this week! It's going to be a beautiful autumn weekend here at the orchard. We will be offering U-Pick apples Saturday (10/17/20) as supplies last. Our u-pick pumpkin patch will be open both Saturday and Sunday! Details on U-Pick and a full list of apple varieties and produce available in our Farm Market to follow.
Many of you will be excited to hear that we have started to harvest Winesap. Winesap is one of the oldest apple varieties and is a favorite for pie and sauce! It adds a deliciously unique flavor! Our apple pie mix is now available in peck bags! Current favorites for pie are Golden Delicious, Macoun, Winesap and Granny Smith.
U-Pick Apples:
When? SATURDAY Only, October 17th, starting at 9am. U-Pick apples will be AS SUPPLIES LAST. We will NOT be offering u-pick for apples on Sunday.
Variety: Goldrush. Goldrush is an awesome all-purpose apple!
U-Pick Pumpkins:
When? Seven days a week!
We still have a wide variety of pumpkins and other fall decorations available at our Farm Market. It's not too late to start your fall decorating or add a little extra! You can never have too many pumpkins!
Its going to be a perfect chilly autumn weekend to cozy up and make some apple butter! There are so many wonderful apple varieties to mix! We love this recipe from Halfbaked Harvest. Link below. She uses Honeycrisp but we recommend a mix of Melrose, Suncrisp and a little McIntosh. Make a bunch and share a jar with your friends & family, they will love it!!
