Crop Report: Goldrush Cider
Happy Friday! Even though we enjoyed the warmer days, it's feeling like fall again and that means hot apple cider and our favorite comfort meals! We used this beautiful week to harvest Pink Lady apples which are now available in our Farm Market. A full list of apple varieties and locally grown produce available to follow.
Many of you will be excited to hear that our limited addition Goldrush cider will be available this weekend in addition to our traditional blend. Why Goldrush cider? In our eyes you simply can't go wrong with a Goldrush! Its flavor it has an awesome "rush" of flavor that is incomparable. We've passed our love of Goldrush on to many of you and it has become a customer favorite! If you love the apple, you'll love the cider! It has an extra zing of tartness and flavor. Try this seasonal favorite while it's here!
Pink lady is our last harvest of the season. It is very crisp and crunch with an almost floral tartness. Pink lady is best for eating but can work well in sauce and baked goods if you're looking for that extra tartness. We love to dip slices of pink lady in caramel to make it's intense tartness a little subtle.
Our Farm Market will continue to be open seven days a week this season until December 24th. We will have several varieties of apples and fresh pressed cider up until then. We had a great crop of Goldrush this year so those of you who are planning to stock up before we close, there are still plenty! We are hoping to even have enough to put out on the honor system on Saturdays after we close the Farm Market. Stay posted!
Because this week is all about cider, here's some weekend cocktail inspiration to feature our Goldrush cider or the traditional blend. Link to the recipe for Ginger Apple Moscow Mule below. If you're feeling like you would rather have a drink served to you (we get it, some days are like that) the Winds Cafe makes a mean Cider Moscow Mule with our cider. Plus if you haven't tried their Pumpkin lasagna, it's definitely something to check off the fall bucket list. Very fall and very Yellow Springs!
Fall is our favorite season for sweet treats! This Cinnamon Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread is perfect for your Sunday morning breakfast. This recipe calls for pumpkin butter. Pumpkin butter from Dutch Country Kettles has been a long time favorite of ours. It's available by the pint in our Farm Market. We recommend making this bread in advance so you can spend Sunday morning, as you should, cozied up in your pajamas with a cup of coffee. Recipe link below.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
